
My name is Edy Dominguez, I’m undocumented, and last week I was arrested in Washington D.C. because I believe in the Dream Act. (Leé la historia de Edy en español, aqui)
In 2008 with many efforts, sacrifice, and support from my family I graduated from Northeastern Illinois University, where I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, Media and Theater. When I graduated I ran into the glass ceiling of undocumented people, which until today hasn’t allowed me to pursue my professional career.
What happened to the dream of working hard and becoming a useful person for our communities and families? I do not want my brothers nor the children of my community to go through the same frustration.
Our families and communities are enough reasons to run the risk of getting arrested and being deported. That’s why 21 undocumented students were part of a civil disobedience action last week in Washington D. C. (more…)
