In the following weeks immigrant rights advocates and immigrant communities from across Illinois will be traveling to Springfield to advocate for a process for all people living in the state to have a driver’s licences, by making Temporary Visitor’s Driver’s Licenses (TVDL) available to immigrants without a social security number.
On November 29, 2012 the Immigrant Youth Justice League invites you to get on the bus with us to convince our legislators that undocumented immigrants have a right to have a driver’s license, and that it is a measure that would make the roads and our state safer for everyone. Save a seat for yourself on the bus, and tell your friends!

As young people, many of whom qualify to benefit from getting drivers licenses through Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, we are committed to fighting for driver’s licenses for all undocumented immigrants who do not have a social security number, because they are our parents, our aunts and uncles, brothers and sisters, friends and neighbors, and members of our community. We hope you will join us.
Lastly, whether you can be in Springfield or not, please consider making a donation to IYJL to continue this and other organizing projects, by clicking on the “Donate” button to your right. Thank you.
